SIMS 3 CRASHING! NOT GENERIC PROBLEMS!!!!! HELP!

My game will run for an undetermined period of time. It could be five minutes, two hours, three seconds... I'll never know till it happens. Then, all a sudden my whole computer (not just the game) will slow to an absolute snail pace. The only way for me to get anything running normal speed is to restart my computer using the power button. I've tried to pull up task manager, but the computer just gives me a message essentially telling me to shut my computer off. I've tried taking all my custom content out. No change. I've tried re installing the base game. No change. I've tried the DEP fix. It actually made my game crash to desktop. I am running windows 7, I meet the requirements for the game. I have the sims 3 base game, ambitions, and pets running. What the hell is going on?
